Old friends...

Yesterday I messaged Venney and we discussed about the possibility of meeting up at the Midwest Games (official website here) this May, and all of a sudden we were thinking how great it would be if more of our old KDU friends can meet up together. Then last night, it struck me how much I've lost contact with a lot of my old friends...friends from primary school, high school, college... I've always thought of myself as someone who holds friendship dear to my heart, and it was quite a blow to me to realise that I hadn't put in as much effort to keep my old friendships as I could after all. Come to think of it...besides Wei Wei...I hardly keep in touch with my high school friends anymore...a message on MSN once every 3 months certainly doesn't count as "keeping in touch" in my opinion... I got so upset last night! Why? How did this happen? Why did I let it come to this? Then I decided, I will start putting in more effort from now on...like my mum said...good friends don't come easy once you get out of school...and there really is not such thing as "Friendship Forever" if you don't rekindle the fire now and then...

Back to school in August!

I just realised that I didn't mention anything about one of the greatest things that happened to me this month!!! I must've been too occupied with being lazy that it slipped my mind! :P ANYWAY...I was offered a research assistantship by Dr. Sebastian Elbaum (http://cse.unl.edu/~elbaum) a couple of weeks ago!! I've always hoped to work with him but he's always been this faraway, high-up "dream" that I never really dared to approach him. But thank goodness for that "Prospective Grad student recruitment day" thingie that the department held a few weeks ago...we had to fill up a form and specify who we prefer to work with, and I seized the chance to write down Dr. Elbaum's name as my first choice. Then after that day I finally had the courage to email him and told him that I would like to meet him to hear more about his research. Imagine my surprise and delight when he told me during our meeting that he'd actually decided a few days ago to hire me!!! I was SO RELIEVED! I've been worrying and worrying about grad school since before I graduated last December, and now I finally have an answer! :D Then last week I received an official letter from the department...and to my utmost surprise, found out that I was also awarded a fellowship...I really felt that that was the happiest day of my life...haha... :)

So anyway...that's like the most exciting news I've got...now I've just got to remember to blog more often so as to not defeat the whole purpose of having a blog in the first place and I should really hit the sack now seeing that I'm starting to blab non-stop... :P

It's been THAT long?

I didn't realise that it has been ONE WHOLE MONTH since I last blogged. What's the point of blogging?? :P That's me...and my laziness. ;) Well, the deployment on the client's server has since been done (phew!), more bugs were fixed and more functions were added. I've been working only 20 hours a week this month, so will be a lot poorer...hehehe. ;)

On a more important note...last Saturday was Malaysian Night 2005!!! There's a whole photo album with pictures from the night on the first page of my website, feel free to browse through! :) It went great (in my opinion), and we really had a blast. The atmosphere was really high, and it was obvious that majority of the audience really enjoyed the night.

And last but not least...before I close this message, my heart goes out to the people of Sumatra island...
